DEADLINE TO APPEAL TAX APPRAISALS 5:00PM TODAY

  

The deadline for filing an appeal to the Washington County Appraisal District’s appraisal review board is this evening at 5pm, and could have a record number of appeals to property values set by the district.

Appeals may be filed at 1301 Neibuhr St.

Chief appraiser Willy Dilworth said there have been a large number of inquiries to his office, but not as many as he had expected.

Ten percent is the limit set by the State of Texas that taxing entities may increase homesteads.

Washington County is due re-evaluation this year, as appraisal districts are required to do county wide revaluations at least every three years.

Undeveloped land and lower-end houses have seen the largest increases, based on market prices being paid for those.
