SALES TAX REBATES SEE INCREASES IN JULY

  

Brenham and Washington County saw increases in sales tax rebates for July.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar sends cities, counties, transit systems and special purposes taxing districts their local sales tax allocations totaling $609.8 million, which is an increase of 1.2 percent from July 0f 2014.

Brenham received $532,886, up 19 percent from July 2014. The city of Brenham’s sales tax rate is 1.5 percent.

The city also received rebates, which are up for the year, receiving $3,675, 379, which is 9.5 percent from the same time last year, when the city received $3,355,275.

For July, the city’s rebate was $213,046, which is 10.3% higher than last year’s payment of $193,152.

For the City of Burton payment, the amount received was down 47.8%, with the city receiving $1,231. In July of 2014, Burton received $2,360. For the year, Burton has received $18,265, which is down 9.4% from last year’s total of $20,164.

Hegar says that the state sales tax revenue in June was 2.2 billion, down 1.4 percent compared to June 2014.
