BLUE BELL ALABAMA PLANT RECALLING APPROXIMATELY 180 FURLOUGHED WORKERS

  

The Dallas Morning News on Thursday reported that Blue Bell creameries will be recalling 180 Alabama Blue Bell workers that were recently furloughed in May.

Blue Bell furloughed about 1,200 workers and laid off about 750 full time and 700 part-time workers back in May while the company underwent an extensive cleaning and decontamination process at its plants in Texas and Oklahoma, after reports of listeria contamination was blamed for three deaths in Kansas.

The company recently announced it was beginning ice cream production at its Alabama plant, and is beginning to stockpile inventory for an unannounced production start date.
