BLINN BOARD ACCEPTS DONATION FOR BLINN NURSING PROGRAM

  

The Blinn Board of Trustees have accepted the donation of two hospital beds from St. Joseph Hospital for use by Blinn’s Vocational Nursing, Associate Degree Nursing and Physical Therapist Assistant programs at the Health Science Center campus. Valued at $36,000, the beds feature advanced capabilities, including a scale for weighting patients, continuous lateral rotation therapy, percussion and vibration therapy, and patient transfer and ambulation support.

The beds will be utilized in the Simulation and Clinical Labs area, a 23,000-square foot facility located on the second floor of the HSC campus. The labs allow associate degree nursing, vocational nursing, physical therapy assistant, radiologic technology and emergency medical services students to simulate myriad scenarios in a variety of hospital and outpatient settings.

The facility includes an EMS lab with an ambulance simulator, two operating rooms with attached scrub areas, six high-fidelity intensive care unit rooms, 16 mid-fidelity private hospital rooms, six low fidelity private hospital rooms, a physical therapy lab, two radiologic technology x-ray suites, a virtual IV training room, a home setting and an outpatient clinical space.
