TWO ARRESTED ON POT/GUN CHARGES

Two men face charges after a traffic stop in Brenham, Tuesday night.

Around 9:30, Cpl. Edward Ortega made a traffic stop in the 500 block of W. Alamo St.
As he approached the vehicle, Ortega says he could smell the strong odor of marijuana. During a search of the vehicle, marijuana and a handgun were located.
The handgun was confirmed stolen out of Katy.
18-year old Francisco Jason Melendez of the Bronx, New York, and 19-year old Sterling Chance Brumant of Katy are each charged with Possession of marijuana; Unlawfully carrying a weapon; and Theft of a firearm.
