SGT. THUMANN AND LOBOS RECOGNIZED BY TEXAS

State Representative Leighton Schubert was in La Grange this week to recognize Sergeant Randy Thumann and his police dog, Lobos, of the Fayette County Sheriff's K-9 and Drug Interdiction Unit. Representative Schubert presented Thumann and Lobos, along with Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek, with a Resolution from the Texas House of Representatives commemorating their service.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the I-10 corridor is one of the most active drug-trafficking routes in the nation, and Sergeant Thumann and Lobos have been responsible for the majority of drug seizures on the stretch of the highway that passes through Fayette County.

"I am so proud of Sergeant Thumann and Lobos for the significant contribution they are making to drug enforcement in Texas, and they are truly deserving of this special recognition," said Representative Schubert. "I am constantly hearing about the great work they are doing and I wanted to personally thank the entire Fayette County Sheriff's Drug Interdiction Unit on behalf of the state of Texas for their dedication and hard work."

Lobos is a five-year-old Belgian Malinois who was raised and trained in the Czech Republic and only answers to commands in Czech. Lobos works under the direction of Sergeant Thumann, who has over a decade of service in law enforcement. Seven of those years have been with the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
