BRENHAM STUDENT NAMED RUNNER-UP FOR NCWIT ASPIRATIONS IN COMPUTING AWARD
Brenham High School student, Jacqueline Deans has recently been named a National Runner-up for the NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Award. This award recognizes girls who contribute to the field of computer science.
Deans is currently a junior at Brenham High School and has participated in UIL computer science contests, HP Codewars, and many other programming competitions in the area. She is the president of the computer science club at her high school and is part of a team that has built three prosthetic hands for local children utilizing a 3D printer. She is also currently working on an electronically controlled arm for another girl.
Deans plans to major in Computer Science when she goes to college and hopes to eventually work with robotics and AI or in operating systems.
