TWO BRENHAM HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS SELECTED FOR ALL-STATE BAND

Two Brenham High School musicians were selected at the Area competition to perform with the Texas All-State Band.

Lauren Middleton, daughter of Doug and Cheryl Middleton, and Jacqui Deans, daughter of John and Beth Deans, French horn and clarinet players respectively, have competed through several levels of musical auditions beginning in the fall of 2015 to arrive at the state level.

Over 1,500 students are selected through a process that began with over 60,000 students from around the state. Individual musicians perform selected music for a panel of judges who rank each instrument or voice part. From this ranking, a select group of musicians advance from their Region to compete against musicians at the Area level. The highest ranking musicians judged at the Area competition qualify to perform in an All State music group.

These All-State students participate in three days of rehearsals directed by nationally-recognized conductors during the Clinic/Convention. Middleton and Deans will perform with the Texas All-State Band in San Antonio, Saturday, February 13th at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center as part of the 2016 Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention.
