WASHINGTON COUNTY/CHFD REACH AGREEMENT ON PARAMEDIC FACILITY

Washington County Commissioners Court met this morning (Tuesday) which lead to the approval of an agreement between the County and the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department to furnish a space for a duty station for a community paramedic. The Fire Department will simply lease their space to a community paramedic.

The lease agreement allows the county to begin renovations to the Old Chappell Hill Fire Department Building that need to be done. Washington County EMS Director, Kevin Deramus says he believes they have about two weeks of work to do before they can have someone living in that office space. He says that they should be able to place the community paramedic in the building by mid-February for sure.

Also according to Deramus, funding is primarily coming from tax dollars but is a public-private partnership. Around 10% of the funding is coming from the Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce; providing building facility, fuel subsidy, along with a $5,000 subsidy. The rest is coming from the county.

During today’s (Tuesday) meeting, the Commissioners Court also approved the reappointment of Zeb Heckmann to serve on the County Appraisal District’s budget committee as well as granted the authority to Justice of the Peace of Precinct 1 to purchase a new computer and monitor with funds from the JP Technology funds.
