BLINN BOARD APPROVES PLANS FOR NEW BRYAN CAMPUS
The Blinn College Board of Trustees Tuesday night, approved plans for a new campus scheduled to open in Bryan in 2017.
Comprehensive plans for the new campus were originally viewed at the board’s Dec. 15 meeting, calling for the development of 95 acres located on the North Harvey Mitchell Parkway.
Blinn plans for the site to host 15,000 students as a complement to its campus on Villa Maria Road.
The additional campus will allow Blinn to develop additional science, technology, engineering and mathematics offerings and expand its workforce, technical, research and health-related education programs.
Also at Tuesday night’s meeting, the board was presented with a clean audit.
The audit was conducted by Lott, Vernon & Company, P.C. and includes a comprehensive report of all funds and accounts of the College District for the 2014 and 2015 fiscal years.
A copy of the audit will be available to the public.
Blinn officials also announced a record enrollment of 19,422 students last Fall, and has experienced 38.3 percent enrollment growth since 2006.
