WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO DISCUSS JAIL WORK

Construction work of the Washington County Jail tops the agenda for tomorrow’s (Tuesday) meeting of the Washington County Commissioners Court.

Commissioners are expected to approve an agreement between the county and Chappell Hill construction for work at the jail. Commissioners are expected to grant Count Judge John Brieden authority to sign any necessary documents related to the project.

Judge Brieden says that this approval will be for the Chappell Hill Construction contract to begin working

Brieden also gave incite to what this construction would entail for the County Jail, including reasons such as safety and better separation between inmates and those handling the inmates.

Also at tomorrow’s (Tuesday) meeting, commissioners are expected to formally approve the donations of surplus office furnishings to the Washington County Healthy Living Association.

Commissioners are also expected to approve a subdivision variance request on Allen Road in Precinct One.

  1. Is this a monopoly for this public work to be granted to “Chappell Hill Construction” without going out for public bid? Why was this work NOT put out with a NOTICE OF PUBIC BID? Judge John Brieden can you explain?
