BRADY OPPOSES BULLET TRAIN

Eighth District U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady is challenging the authority to condemn land under eminent domain for the proposed route for a $12 billion Texas high-speed rail project plan,KEVIN BRADY PROFILE

Texas Central Partners announced plans to build a high-speed railway linking Dallas and Houston with a stop in Grimes County.

Company officials said they're still working with landowners and gathering information from areas impacted by the project.

Brady’s office says he’s requested the help of area state legislators in seeking an opinion from the Texas Attorney General.

Among those Brady commended them for their leadership against the project is District-13 State Representative Leighton Schubert.

Brady says he’ll oppose any requests for federal funding for the private project.  Texas Central Partners has not requested any federal funds to this point.

Last summer Brady announced his opposition to the rural route, saying, "it divides and damages rural counties, communities and farms in Grimes, Madison and Leon counties.”

Brady says the route “fractures our rural lifestyle without any direct benefits to our communities, families and businesses."
