MARCH BUILDING PERMITS SEE DRAMATIC INCREASE
A permit for a new motel in Brenham led a drastic increase in building permits for March.
The city issued a permit for a new Holiday Inn Express at 2685 Schulte Blvd., for $5.5-million.
That was the largest of 39 permits issued in March for a total of $9,544,034.
For the year, so far, 90 permits have been issued, for a total value of $12,732,983. Last year at this time, 66 permits had been issued for $11,976,950.
Another significant permit was issued to Blinn College for the new Kruse Recreation Center at 208 Blinn Boulevard, for $1.2-million.
A permit for a concrete slab at Valmont Galvanizing was issued for a value of just over $1.1-million.
Fourteen new residences received permits in March, worth nearly $1.2-million. For the year, 27 new homes have been permitted for $2.4-million.
Through March of last year, 15 permits for new homes had been issued for $1.6-million.
This is all well and good but recognize there’s really no new employers and they are creating another “no tell motel”!
