CALDWELL MAN SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS
Reginald Nickerson has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Nickerson pled guilty on February 1st to two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, a first degree felony
Friday, Judge Carson Campbell of the 21st District Court in Burleson County sentenced the 19-year old Nickerson to 12 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after a hearing to determine punishment. .
The offense occurred in May of 2014, and was reported anonymously days later. The 6 year old victim was interviewed at Scotty’s House, the Brazos Valley Child Advocacy Center, where the allegations were more fully brought to light.
The forensic interview, and subsequent investigation by the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office led to Nickerson’s arrest on July 28, 2014.
District Attorney Julie Renken said her office is “…fortunate to have investigators at the Sheriff’s Office who understand the importance of these cases, and access to a resource like Scotty’s House close by.”
Renken commented further, saying she was pleased with the sentence, which she says “reinforces the message, that crimes against children will not be tolerated, and will be fully prosecuted.”
