San Jacinto sends Blinn to the consolation bracket at regionals, 5-2

PASADENA, Texas – Two solo home runs was enough to give Blinn College softball an early lead but San Jacinto College-South was able to storm back for a 5-2 victory Friday afternoon in Pasadena to send the Buccaneers to the consolation bracket of the Region XIV tournament.

The loss moves the Blinn overall record to 36-17 as the Buccaneers move down to the consolation bracket to face Galveston College on Saturday, April 30 at 12:30 p.m.

Jordin Wilkins and Cheyenne Trader provided the offense with back to back solo home runs, while Wilkins also added a single in the loss. Faith Genoway was saddled with the loss after giving up two earned runs in 1 1-3 innings.

San Jacinto struck first with a single run in the first inning but that lead wouldn’t last. Blinn answered back in the second inning when Wilkins and Trader started off the inning with back to back home runs to give the Buccaneers a 2-1 lead.

The lead wouldn’t last for Blinn either as San Jacinto scored two runs in both the fourth and seventh innings to take a 5-2 lead that would hold up until the final out.
