MAIFEST CELEBRATIONS CONTINUE WITH PARADE

The celebrations for the 126th Maifest are in full force. This morning (Saturday) kicked off with the Brenham Maifest parade.

This year’s parade featured many children riding the floats dressed in costumes to coordinate with this year’s court themes. The volunteer fire departments from Washington County were there in support of Maifest as they drove their fire trucks in the parade, as well as the Shriners, local officials, as well as the high school and college marching bands.

This year’s Junior Maifest Queen reigning over the Junior Court of “TV Land” is Ellie Van Dyke, daughter of Christy and Jarvis Van Dyke and Junior Maifest King is Austin Cone, son of Meg and David Cone.

2016 Senior Queens, Hannah Damon, daughter of Donna and Jeff Damon, and Madison Tomachefsky, daughter of Stephanie and Justin Tomachefsky will reign over “It’s Our World…What’s Your Story” with Senior King Colson Altman, son of Sabrina and Michael Altman. The Senior Maifest Coronation is taking place on Fireman’s Field from 7:00pm to 9:00pm this evening (Saturday).

Continuing with the day’s celebration after the parade, the Mighty Thomas Carnival and the festival are open with food, arts, crafts, rides, and activities until midnight.

The Brenham Noon Lions Club will be selling all-you-can-eat Blue Bell ice cream wristbands for $6. Individual servings of Blue Bell can also be purchased for $2 with up to 16 flavors to choose from between noon and 11:00pm this evening (Saturday). The proceeds raised by the Brenham Noon Lions Club will support local charities, including eyeglasses for children and Mission Brenham.
