WASHINGTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS EXTEND LOCAL DISASTER DECLARATION
The Washington County Commissioners approved to extend the Local Disaster Declaration during their meeting this morning (Tuesday). The order is related to the excessive amounts of rainfall the county has received resulting in widespread property damage beginning in April.
County Judge, John Brieden says that he can only declare a local disaster for 7 days but that the commissioner’s court can extend that.
Judge Brieden says Washington County far exceeds requirements for reimbursement.
Commissioners also approved the sale of fireworks for Memorial Day weekend. The sale will begin May 25th and end at midnight on May 30th.
A formal notice for a proposed buried utility line on Eckermann Road in Precinct 4 for Industry Telephone Company was approved as well as accounts payable. Eight fairgrounds contracts were approved including, a wedding, a drive-thru dinner, a baptism, a first communion, and four concessions.
