CHAPPELL HILL VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPT. TO BREAK GROUND ON TRAINING FACILITY
The Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Washington County’s oldest volunteer fire department, broke ground earlier this week on a multi-use facility which has been part of their original plans since 2003. “This new facility will allow us to not only utilize it for professional fire training and educational programs but also provide the community a new rental facility which can be rented for family functions such as weddings, birthday parties and major celebrations, which has been a need for the Chappell Hill area over the last few years,” stated Chappell Hill Fire Chief Mike Kmiec.
“We realize that as our small firehouse continues to provide a venue for the community and their special events, we must plan for the future and ensure that we have a facility that not only houses our fleet of vehicles and equipment, but also address the demands of the community and plan for the future on the eastern part of Washington County. The Chappell Hill community has been extremely supportive of our fire department over the years and we are forever grateful for leaders that established the fire department, mentored our young fire fighters and trained us to be good stewards of our resources. Now we can host and engage on professional training and workshops for our volunteers and others throughout the area. We look forward to continue being a strong partner of the community and county and with this new training facility will provide a venue for conferences, training events for businesses and first responders and continue showcasing the birthplace of Washington County right here in Chappell Hill,” stated Kmiec.
“Thanks to years of fundraising, our annual cook-off and the funds raised at the annual Bluebonnet & Scarecrow festivals we have been able to put funds aside to help us launch this project. We invite anyone that is interested in this project to contact the fire department or come by and visit with us,” concluded Kmiec.
