BLUEBONNET ELECTRIC OUTAGE UPDATE

At 5:15 a.m., Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative reported 525 separate outages affecting 3,238 members. The outages are widespread across our 3,800-square mile territory. We had 12 crews working overnight, who made good progress. Most of the large outages we had in central and eastern Washington County have been restored. We have a few large outages still remaining in Washington and Burleson counties. Once the flood waters receded and we were able to assess damage yesterday, we found flooding caused more structural damage to our poles and powerlines than we anticipated, which slowed progress in some areas. However, the majority of damage to our electric grid was caused by lightning, particularly to insulators and fuses.

At 7 a.m. today, we will have more than 55 crews and about 250 employees and contractors working to restore power. With those resources in the field working as quickly and safely as possible today, we expect to make great progress. We will continue to keep our members informed through Facebook and Twitter.
