BLINN ALUMNI LETTERMEN DONATE $2,000 TO BLINN ATHLETICS
The Blinn College Alumni Lettermen recently donated $2,000 to Blinn College’s baseball, cheer and dance, football and volleyball programs in appreciation of their assistance at the 2016 Blinn College Clay Shootout.
The Clay Shootout, hosted April 1 by the Alumni & Friends Association and the Alumni Lettermen Association, raised $53,000 thanks to the efforts of approximately 100 volunteers, including more than 30 student athletes.
The Shootout attracted 57 teams and 228 participants, surpassing organizers’ goal of 50 teams.
“We could not have raised these funds for Blinn students without the support of the entire community,” said Dr. Kyle Merten, alumni relations director. “The Alumni & Friends Association, the Alumni Lettermen Association, and all our volunteers were crucial to making this an event to be proud of. We could not have achieved this success without the support of all our sponsors, especially LaRoche Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac, which underwrote the event.”
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 34 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information about Blinn athletics, visit www.buccaneersports.com.
“We appreciate everything the Alumni Lettermen Association does in support all our athletic programs,” said Scott Schumacher, athletic director. “It was our pleasure to volunteer at the Clay Shootout, and we look forward to supporting the Association and its fundraisers for years to come.”
The Alumni Lettermen Association maintains contact with all former Blinn College athletes, coaches and athletic personnel, encourages support for and participates in the educational and athletic programs of the College and provides fellowship among former student athletes, friends and supporters of Blinn College.
