GRIMES COUNTY CROWNS THEIR 2016 FAIR QUEEN

  

Grimes County crowned their 2016 Fair queen on Saturday.

Of the five candidates, Kaylee Leonard was named the 2016 Grimes County Fair Queen. Kaylee has participated for many years in the Grimes County Fair including, Pee-Wee from 2001 to 2007, Pen of Three in 2010, Market Steers from 2013 – present, and Market Swine from 2008 – present, winning numerous awards including her most recent wins, Reserve Breed Champion for Market Swine and Sr. Showmanship for Breeding Heifers, both in 2015. Kaylee has also participated in many major shows such as the State Fair of Texas. Heart of Texas, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Kaylee participates in many school and community activities as well. She is a member of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), Navasota High School Honor Society, and FFA. Within her church, she is was a member of the Youth Council of Houston/Galveston Archdioceses in 2015 where only two teens are nominated out of the whole church, and she is a weekly volunteer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church for CCE classes.

In addition to being active in the Grimes County Fair and her community, Kaylee is a leader. She was part of a Leadership Team on YAC where only 15 members are chosen, she was Navasota Chapter Vice President in 2015, as well as FCA Co-President in 2013.

Kaylee says being crowned the Grimes County Fair Queen means she can “help inspire younger kids and show them they can do anything they set their mind to, all it takes is a little dedication, determination, and a lot of hard work.”
