BURLESON COUNTY JURY GIVES MAXIMUM SENTENCE ON FAMILY VIOLENCE

49 year old Dale Dewayne Bullock, of Somerville, was convicted by a jury of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second degree felony, late Wednesday night.  Judge Carson Campbell presided over the trial in the 21st District Court.

The victim testified that she was choked to the point of near unconsciousness, and described an “out of body experience” thinking she was about to die.  She was able to escape to her daughter’s house, who called 911.  Law enforcement arrested Bullock, and the victim was taken to the Scott & White Emergency Room and treated for her injuries.

Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, in this case, Bullock’s hands, is a second degree felony carrying a punishment range of 2 to 20 years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.  It is considered a “3G” offense, meaning Bullock must serve at least half of his sentence before even becoming eligible for release on parole.

After just over an hour of deliberation, the jury sentenced Bullock to the maximum term of confinement, 20 years, and a fine of $6,500.
