MAYOR & CITY MANAGER ADDRESS BRENHAM P.D.

  

In light of recent events in Dallas and Baton Rouge, Brenham Mayor Milton Tate and City Manager Terry Roberts met Wednesday night with members of the Brenham Police Department.

Tate and Roberts spoke to officers during a departmental meeting Wednesday evening at the police department.

Roberts delivered a letter to the department which read:

The recent tragic killing of police officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge underscores the dangerous nature of your profession. You are public servants who provide an essential service to your fellow citizens here in Brenham.

I want to take a few minutes to share with you how much we appreciate your service and the dedication you give to your jobs . Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the officers killed and injured in the line of duty. Those same thoughts are with you and your families as you continue your service to Brenham.

Whether you are in your initial year of service or a veteran of many decades of service, you have an awesome responsibility. You are serving in this department and serving this community with a high level of skill and training. To be selected to join this agency requires a high standard and a significant background evaluation.

Thank you for what you do. Be alert and be safe as you continue serving in this honorable profession. What you do is vital to the safety and well-being of this community and its citizens and you are to be saluted.
