TRAVIS COUNTY DEPUTY KILLED IN ROUND ROCK

A Travis County Sheriff’s deputy has been shot and killed in his own home in Round Rock, early Monday morning.
According to authorities, Sgt. Craig Hutchinson, a 32-year veteran who was set to retire in September, was found shot to death in his yard just after 1:30 Monday morning.
Sheriff Greg Hamilton says Hutchinson called in on his service radio that he’d spotted people running out of his back yard. Deputies discovered his body about 10 minutes later.
Hamilton says the shooting appears to be part of a robbery and that investigators so far do not think the incident was an ambush or a targeted attack. He said there was no word on any suspects but that the area had seen other burglaries recently.
No arrests have been made. Authorities from multiple agencies are scouring the area for suspects.
