DNA TIES BRENHAM MAN TO BURGLARIES

  

DNA results have tied a Brenham man to two burglaries that happened in 2013. On July 25th, 2016, Washington County Sheriff’s Office identified Frank Ortegon, 57, of Brenham as the suspect in both crimes scenes thanks to DNA lab results.

According to Sheriff Otto Hanak, in 2013 deputies responded to the Phillips 66 located on State Highway 36 North to investigate a burglary. A few days later, deputies were called to investigate an Aggravated Robbery of an Elderly Individual in Chappell Hill. During the course of both investigations, physical evidence was obtained and submitted to the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Laboratory for DNA analysis.

In July of this year, investigators received the results that identified Ortegon as the suspect in both crimes. They were then able to obtain felony arrest warrants for Ortegon for Aggravated Robbery and Burglary.

Ortegon is currently serving a forty year sentence in the Texas Department of Corrections for a 2013 Aggravated Robbery and Kidnapping that occurred at the Chappell Hill Exxon.
