CUBS & PANTHERS TO KICK OFF 2016 AT HOME FRIDAY NIGHT
The 2016 high school football season is ready to kick off, Friday night, as the Brenham Cubs and Burton Panthers host season openers.
The Cubs will kick off the 2016 season at Cubs Stadium against the Houston Westside Wolves.

The Cubs are coming off their first losing season (4-7) in West’s 18 years as head coach. However, the team rallied to win their last two district games to qualify for the playoffs for the 12th straight year.
The Wolves were also 4-7 last year, but were 4-3 in District 20/6A, sending them into the post-season as well.
West says the Wolves will give the Cubs a tough test for their opener…
Kickoff is set for 7:30 at Cubs Stadium. The game can be heard live with The Sports Doc Ed Pothul and Coach Kyle Van Hook, beginning at 7:00 on KWHI and www.kwhi.com.
The Burton Panthers will also be at home for their 2016 season opener.
The Panthers will square off with the Holland Hornets, Friday night.
Panthers’ Head Coach Jason Hodde says everyone in the program is ready to get the season underway…
The Panthers finished the 2015 season with a 5-6 mark, but were 3-3 in District 13/2A play, sending them to the playoffs.
Hodde says the Panthers have a lot of experienced players in key positions coming back for 2016…
The Panthers and Hornets will kickoff Friday night at 7:30 at Panthers Stadium.
