POLICE WARN AGAINST FAKE CHECK SCAM

  

The Brenham Police Department is warning residents about a check scam going around the community.

Residents of Brenham have received checks in the mail such as this:

The check comes in priority mail envelopes, giving a false sense legitimacy. When the fake check is deposited into an account, whoever has sent it is able to access the victim’s banking information.

The Brenham Police Department reminds residents to verify the legitimacy of a check they receive and were not expecting in the mail before depositing it in their account.
