TRAFFIC STOP TURNS INTO CAR CHASE ON I-10

  

A high-speed chase ensued Saturday after an attempted traffic stop on I-10.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek was on patrol on Interstate 10 near the Fayette-Colorado County Line when he observed a westbound vehicle displaying two different license plates. Deputy Smith then attempted to stop the vehicle and a pursuit began.

The suspect vehicle drove around tire deflation devices and later left the interstate and went onto FM 2238 near Engle. The vehicle drove through numerous fences and was later found abandoned in that area.

The vehicle was later found to be stolen from the the Houston Police Department.  The vehicle was impounded and the driver has yet to be identified.
