GRAND JURY FINDS ‘INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE’ IN SEALY BRIDGE COLLAPSE ACCIDENT

An Austin County grand jury has found there is insufficient evidence to charge Carl Weige with a felony offense after a fatal accident that took the life of 12-year old Bre’in Bullock.SEALY BRIDGE FEATURE

On July 7th, a disposal truck driven by 72-year old Weige struck the overpass at Highway 90 at Highway 36 in Sealy, causing a concrete slab to break free and crash down on the vehicle where Bulllock was riding.  Bullock’s mother Leah was hospitalized.

According to Sealy police, the boom on Weige’s truck was still raised when he struck the overpass, and Chief Chris Noble said the truck had struck a warning device but continued on into the overpass.

The grand jury considered whether or not to prosecute based on criminally negligent homicide. After a review of the investigation by the Sealy Police Department, Fort Bend Crime Scene Investigators, and the Department of Public Safety, the grand jury determined there was not sufficient evidence to find that Weige’s conduct was a criminal act.
