WILLIS DEFEATS BRENHAM TENNIS, 15-4

The Brenham varsity tennis team fell to Willis Tuesday night by the score of 15-4.

Winning for the Cubs were the girls #1 doubles team of Abby Figueroa and Katie Murski 3-6, 6-2 (10-6 super tie breaker)

Brenham Coach Roy Thibodeaux says, "I was so impressed how they gained their composure after losing the first set and came back to win.  That type of win gains valuable experience and motivates the team to never give up."

Winning at #2 boys doubles were Aren Holt and Thomas Luna 6-1, 6-3.  "They played very well together,” said Thibodeaux.  “And they stayed consistent throughout the entire match."

Winning at #4 boys singles was Gunnar Smith 6-4, 6-3.  "Gunnar has done a great job all year doing what it takes to win," said Thibodeaux.

Winning at #5 boys singles was Thomas Luna 6-1, 6-4.  "Thomas played very well and took control of the points quickly,” said Thibodeaux.  “He was transitioning to the net and finishing points very well."

"Out of the 15 matches we lost, several were very close and competitive, however that's one of the unique things about tennis.  You can have a ton of aces and winners in the stat column and still not have the win."  "We will learn from this and get back out on the courts, work hard, and get better."

Brenham’s next match will be a home match against Huntsville on Oct 4th at 3:30pm.
