The department will monitor the polls in Harris, Dallas, and Waller counties today (Tuesday). While the Department of Justice did not specify why it included the three Texas counties, the department’s website says they focus on communities where “there are concerns about racial discrimination in the voting process and other times monitoring is done to ensure compliance with bilingual election procedures.”

In an emailed statement to the Texas Tribune, Waller County Election Administrator Dan Teed said "it is good to have the Department of Justice back in town. They have been an indispensable asset in our quest to provide excellent service to our voters in Waller County."
