FORMER A&M PRESIDENT UNDER CONSIDERATION FOR AG SECRETARY

Former Texas A&M president Elsa Murano is reportedly under consideration to be agriculture secretary of the U.S.

Aides to President-elect Donald Trump have confirmed that Trump will meet next week with Murano, the former top food safety official at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Two other Texans are also reportedly under consideration for the post: Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller and former State Comptroller Susan Combs.

Murano led Texas A&M from 2008 to 2009. She previously served as vice chancellor and dean of the school's College of Agriculture and Life Science.

Prior to that, she was U.S. undersecretary of agriculture for food safety under former President George W. Bush.

  1. There was a reason why she only lasted a year at A&M in that position…I can remember people putting “For Sale” signs in front of her yard all the time because everyone wanted her out.
