BURTON ISD BOARD EXTENDS VARIOUS CONTRACTS

  

The Burton ISD Board of Trustees approved a number of professional contracts during their meeting Thursday night.

Athletic Director Jason Hodde’s contract was extended through August 31, 2019. Elementary Principal Melinda Fuchs and High School Principal Karen Steenken both had their contracts extended through June 30, 2019.

Counselor Brenda Ritter’s contract was extended through 2017-2018. The board approved extending Special Services Cooperative Director LaNell Lindell’s contract for 85 days in 2017-2018.

The board also accepted the retirement resignation of Special Education Teacher, Betty Witte.

A joint election inter-local agreement between Burton ISD and Blinn College was also approved during the meeting. A May 6th election will take place to fill three positions on the Burton School Board. Incumbents Felton Cox, Misty Goldberg Lucherk, and Jeff Harmel have all filed for re-election. Linda Majek Hasten has also filed for a seat on the school board.

The board also approved Spring Activity dates including:

  • March 6th-10th: National Breakfast Week dress up days
  • March 9th: PTO meeting at 3:30 p.m.
  • March 13th-17th: Spring Break
  • March 20th-24th: National Poison Prevention Week.

In other business, a public workshop session was held to discuss the Master Facility Site Plan. The plan is being looked at again after voters rejected the $18.5 million bond issue in November.

Owners Building Resource, LLC, TSG Architects, and DSA Construction Management gave presentations during the session. No action was taken during the discussion since it was workshop session.
