BURTON HOLDS ON TO BEAT MILANO IN KEY DISTRICT TILT
The Burton Panthers took over sole possession of first place in District 13/2A DII, as they held on to beat Milano, 36-31.
Burton (7-1, 3-0) has won seven straight since opening the season with a loss at Holland.
Junior quarterback Caleb Harmel threw two touchdown passes and ran for three more.
Harmel scored on runs of 20, 7 and 4 yards. He also connected with Cash Callahan for a 31-yard touchdown pass and De'Monderick Winters for a 19-yard touchdown
Winters also caught a 7-yard pass from Harmel on fourth-and-4 from the Milano 47-yard line with less than 2 minutes remaining that allowed Burton to pick up a first down and run out the clock.
The Panthers will travel to Granger next Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30.

Congrats to the Burton football team and coaches. The Burton football team continued the tradition of the past ten years under Coaches Hodde and Smith of playing football at a high level. Beating state-ranked Milano at their place was quite a feat. Go Big Red!
