BLINN CHEERLEADER KILLED IN VEHICLE ACCIDENT

  

A Blinn College cheerleader and his teenage passenger were both killed in a New Year’s Day accident in Angelina County.

20 year old Jarred Pecina of Diboll, a cheerleader at Blinn College in Brenham, and 18 year old Valerie Jasso of Lufkin, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the one vehicle wreck Monday.  The Department of Public Safety’s preliminary crash investigation indicates that Pecina was driving a 2008 Honda passenger car south of CC Road in Angelina County.  The car left the roadway on the right side, struck a dirt embankment and a tree before rolling over.

The Blinn College Cheerleading Facebook page posted the following message on Monday:  “Buc National lost one of our own team members today.  We send thoughts and prayers out to the family of Jarred Pecina.  You were an amazing person and will greatly be missed by so many people.  We love you Jarred.”
