ROUND BALES CATCH FIRE IN FAYETTE COUNTY

Around 100 round bales of hay burned Sunday in Fayette County as the result of a controlled burn that got out of hand.  The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reports that Sunday at 12:30 PM, a grass fire was reported on Minarcik Road in the Willow Springs area.  The Fayetteville and Round Top – Warrenton Fire Departments responded to the scene.  They found about 100 round bales of hay on fire.  The ground around the bales was plowed to contain the fire, and the bales were allowed to burn themselves out.  The cause of the fire was a controlled burn that got out of control due to strong southerly winds.
