RELLIS ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH 3M
The future of transportation is being researched at the Texas A&M RELLIS campus.
3M announced this week a new $1.6 million partnership at RELLIS.
Greg Winfree, Texas A&M Transportation Institute Agency Director says 3M is a world class company and they’re extraordinarily pleased to be partnering with them.
Winfree says 3M’s investment will be in introducing a system that allows for foul weather testing of lane stripping and of reflective materials, allowing the ability to work with 3M and figure out how self-driving vehicles can navigate in those conditions safely.
Winfree said the partnership will bring a rain tunnel and gauges to their test tracks.
Robert Anderson, 3M Vice President for Research and Development says he believes the research being done at Texas A&M can make drivers safer as they age.
Texas A&M System Chancellor John Sharp said 3M is one of several corporate partnerships coming to RELLIS, and this is just the beginning.
TxDOT is also working with A&M on the latest transportation research.
