‘GOLD WING’ MOTORCYCLE CLUB COMING NEXT WEEK
A motorcycle riding club will be coming to Brenham next week.
The Gold Wing Road Riders Association Texas District will be assembling in the Brenham and Washington County area next Thursday thru Saturday (May 17-19) at the Washington County Fairgrounds.
The Gold Wing Road Riders is made up of riders of Honda Gold Wing/Valkyrie motorcycles.
Founded in 1977, GWRRA has grown to more than 72,000 U.S., Canadian and international members in 53 foreign countries in just 35 years. Over 800 active chapters are managed by 4,000 volunteer leaders.
The association gathers year round in various sites throughout the state of Texas and across the country.
Some members will be arriving Tuesday and staying through Sunday. The 2018 Texas District Convention theme is “Winging back in History,” which plays into the history of the Washington County area.
Thursday, May 17, the group will hold registration and vendors will be present at the fairgrounds, before everyone heads out to Washington on the Brazos for the opening ceremonies.
The public is invited to the fairgrounds for vendor shopping for $10 admission Thursday and Friday, and for free after 12 noon on Saturday.
Friday evening will include a special treat for the public after the group enjoys a buffet dinner at The Cannery Kitchen in Downtown Brenham. At sunset riders will hold a light show and contest on Douglas Street, between Alamo and Main streets, followed by a parade around downtown. The public is welcome and encouraged to come downtown to view the bikes and enjoy the fun!
