GIDDINGS ISD APPROVES FREE LUNCH PROGRAM

The Giddings ISD school board approved a policy that will provide breakfast and lunch at no cost to students.

The program provides full reimbursement to the Giddings Elementary and Intermediate schools for the cost of a student breakfast or lunch.  Participation in the program, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is possible due to the high amount of economically disadvantaged students in the two schools.

By eliminating the collection of meal applications for free, reduced-price, and paid student meals, this policy will help reduce burdens on both families and school administrators.

This program will run for three years, with a requalification required in the fourth year.
