NEW MEMBERS SELECTED TO SEALY’S EDC

New members were appointed to Sealy’s Economic Development Corporation last week, amidst frenzied discussion.

In a 4-3 vote, Councilwoman Dee Ann Lerma and Wyn McCready were chosen for the panel, and EDC members Adam Burttschell and Sterling Schiller were reappointed.  Council members Larry Koy, John Hinze, and Jennifer Sullivan opposed the decision.

This came after Mischelle McCarthy and Diane Wuthrich spoke of their concerns about the board’s struggles in taking on new businesses.

Formed in 1997, the EDC uses sales tax revenue to recruit new businesses to the area, helping create job opportunities.
