DCTFM EXPECTS RETURN TO THE TOP FOR NAVASOTA IN 2018
The Navasota Rattlers are back. The Rattlers, who struggled the past couple seasons, enter the 2018 season as the district favorites and among the top 20 teams in Dave Campbell’s 2018 Texas Football Magazine.
The Rattlers, who return 13 starters from last year’s team, are ranked #12 in the state in Campbell’s 4A-Division I Poll. The Rattlers are also the favorites to win District 12/4A DI.
Texas Football’s predictions for the District race: 1-Navasota; 2-North Forest; 3-Stafford; 4-Yates; 5-Wheatley; 6-Worthing; 7-Furr.
Under new head coach, and former Rattler quarterback, Casey Dacus, Navasota returns eight starters on a defense that led the team to a 6-5 record (4-1 in district) in 2017.
According to DCTFM, the strength of the Rattlers could well be their defensive front, with the returns of tackles Tyreke Houston and Tyrin Preston along with linebacker Ja’Vonzae Jones.
A young offense will led by returning junior Jordan Jefferson, one of the top-ranked offensive linemen in the state.
The Rattlers open the 2018 season, Friday night August 31st when they host Houston Episcopal.
