BUC MEN’S SOCCER WINS; WOMEN FALL ON THE ROAD

Buccaneers shutout Mountain View, 2-0

DALLAS, Texas — Blinn College men’s soccer (4-4, 3-4) claimed its first shutout of the season after downing Mountain View College, 2-0, on Wednesday night.

“We had a phenomenal first half and found our rhythm early,” said Jorden Smith, Blinn head coach. “This was a great win and a lot of players stepped up for us tonight.”

Out of nine shots, five were on goal and two goals were scored to ensure the win.

Connor Spiller scored the first goal for Blinn in the 32nd minute for a 1-0 lead. Andres Amaro scored the final goal for the Buccaneers in the 61st minute for the 2-0 final.

David Jara assisted both goals that were scored by Blinn, while Josh Frias recorded one save to keep the Lions scoreless.

Blinn College men’s soccer will stay on the road to play Coastal Bend College on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 4 p.m.

 

Mountain View defeats Blinn Women on the road, 2-0

DALLAS, Texas — Blinn College women’s soccer (2-8, 2-5) was defeated by Mountain View College in a non-conference game by the score of 2-0 on Wednesday night.

“We continue to be successful at moments, but we want to work on the final piece and get the ball in the back of the net more,” said Jorden Smith, Blinn head coach. “Everything else is coming together and we want to continue to compete at a high level moving forward.”

On defense, Zoe Madrid recorded three saves, while Taylor Campos had two saves. Offensively, Blinn took nine shots, five that were on goal, but couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net.

Mountain View took a 1-0 lead in the first half after scoring in the 30th minute. In the 62nd minute, the Lions scored their final goal for a 2-0 advantage.

Blinn will return home on Saturday, Sept. 29, to face No. 2 Navarro College at 5 p.m.
