BRENHAM FFA ATTENDS COW CALF CLINIC

Members of Brenham FFA attended the inaugural Youth Track for the South Central Texas Cow Calf Clinic at the Washington County Fairgrounds, Friday.

It was an opportunity for local youth to get hands-on experience that covered the raising and management of beef cattle.

Four counties were represented, with 27 students from the Brenham FFA participating.

The clinic began with state representative Ben Leman discussing his role in advocating for agriculture in a governmental setting. The students then attended three 1-hour sessions covering correct animal structure and cuts of beef, cattle reproduction, and anatomy.

Brenham High School agricultural science teacher Jordan Clay said, “This was a great opportunity for the students to learn about cattle production and each one benefited from the information and hands-on learning!”
