“A CHRISTMAS CAROL” AT O’DONNELL PERFORMING ARTS CENTER SUNDAY

A performance of a beloved holiday classic is coming to Blinn College in Brenham this weekend.

Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” will take center stage tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon at 4 p.m., at the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center. Perseverance Productions, based out of Rochester, New Hampshire, is bringing the performance to Brenham as part of their national tour.

Executive Artistic Director Scott Severance says the show is different, when compared to some tellings of the story of Ebenezer Scrooge.

This adaptation mixes 26 classic carols through the performance, and uses puppetry and humor to emphasize a timeless message.

Severance says some of his techniques used really help to immerse the audience in the show.

Individual tickets are $35, and $15 for children 10 and under. Blinn employees and groups of ten or more can purchase discounted $30 tickets, while student rush tickets are $10.  To buy tickets, call 979-830-4024, or go online to www.blinn.edu/performing-arts-series.

Along with the show, Blinn’s Division of Visual/Performing Arts and Kinesiology will host a toy drive, in support of CASA for Kids. Guests are encouraged to drop off items such as gift cards and beds-in-a-bag.  CASA for Kids advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children in court, through the training and support of community volunteers.
