AREA BANKS SUPPORT BLINN CHOIR TRIP
Four area banks are helping Blinn’s choir make a trip abroad.
Bank of Brenham, Industry State Bank, Fayetteville Bank and First National Bank of Bellville recently donated $2,000 to the Blinn College Foundation in support of the Blinn College District Choir’s upcoming educational trip to Spain.
Bank of Brenham President and CEO Jim Kruse says, “Blinn is an important part of the community in Washington, Austin, and Fayette counties and many Blinn students come from the areas where the banks are located.”
Kruse says the banks wanted to, “support them and their mission.”
Blinn choir students will travel to Spain May 13-22 and perform at Granada, Seville, and Niguelas. In addition to those three concerts, the choir will visit Manuel de Falla House Museum and the University of Granada.
Dr. Paulo Gomes, Choir Director said, “We have no words to thank these banks enough for their donation.”
Gomes went on to say, “The trip will allow our students to hear new music and to see new places, new acoustics, and new venues, which is an important experience to students in a music program.”
The Blinn Choir is accepting donations and bookings for holiday parties and other events. Donations for any amount are welcome. For a minimum donation of $500, 15 to 20 Chamber Choir students will sing a variety of traditional and holiday songs for 30 minutes.
To book the Blinn Choir for a holiday event, please contact Paulo Gomes at 979-830-4239 or paulo.gomes@blinn.edu before Thursday, Dec. 13.
