HUMBLE COUPLE INDICTED IN CHILD’S DEATH

Authorities say an Humble couple has been charged in the death of their 2-year-old daughter, after the child was left overnight in their car after they returned from a party.

Olga Esquivel and Angel Esquivel-Blanco, both 25, are charged with abandoning a child.

Alicia Esquivel died of heat exposure back in September after being left in the car for over 12 hours.

Olga Esquivel told investigators they returned from the party about midnight and she helped her intoxicated husband inside, where they both fell asleep.

Authorities say after realizing the girl was in the car, she waited more than an hour to call 911 because her cellphone battery had no power.

The two are currently free on bond.

  1. This is another tragedy that shouldn’t have happened. I’m disappointed in the negligence of parents, but I also think car manufacturers should be developing technology that would address these situations. Always thought an internal temperature reaching a certain degree with a certain weight on the seat detected would trigger an alarm like the horn going off to alert others or to roll the windows down. All of that smart technology is capable of something like this. Guess the good folks should start looking around their vehicles and start breaking glass if they see kids in the car and nobody else in it. Cheaper alternative than the loss of a loved one.

  2. I truly hope they show NO mercy for these two. What a terrible death this child must have suffered! I’ve HAD ENOUGH! If you cannot adequately care for a child, please place her with one of the thousands wanting to adopt!!!! Or, better yet, consider birth control! There is NO EXCUSE for the behavior of this couple!
