TIPS TO AVOID POST HOLIDAY THEFT

  

Law enforcement officials are reminding the public to not let their trash lead to the theft of their Christmas presents.

Authorities say, with trash pick-up right after Christmas, some residents make the mistake of leaving their marked empty boxes out on the curb where anyone, including thieves, can see what you might have gotten.

Things like TV's and other electronics are some of the items that risk being stolen.

Officials says thieves commonly see the boxes next to the curb or out in front of somebody's house.

Police also remind the public to keep valuables out of your car or at least out of sight.
