BLUEBONNET MASTER GARDENERS HOSTING OPEN HOUSES FOR TRAINING CLASSES

Anyone who wants to learn about the Bluebonnet Master Gardener program is invited to one of two open houses next week.

The Bluebonnet Master Gardener Association is hosting the first open house January 8th from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Washington County Fairgrounds Sales Facility.  The facility is located at 1305 East Blue Bell Road in Brenham.

The second open house will be held January 10th from 9 a.m. to noon in La Grange, at the Fayette County Extension Office at 255 Svoboda Lane.

The Master Gardener program looks to provide an opportunity for people who are interested in horticulture to serve the local community.  Master Gardeners are trained in many aspects of agriculture, such as plant and soil science, entomology, vegetable gardening, plant pathology, landscape design, and more.

Training classes will be held each Thursday morning from January 17th to April 25th, at the Fayette County Extension Office.  Upon completion of training, students will need to take 50 hours of class time and give at least 50 hours of volunteer service in their community.  They will then receive the title of Master Gardener.

For more information on the program, call the Washington County Extension Office at 979-277-6212, or go online to the Bluebonnet Master Gardener website, at https://txmg.org/bluebonnet.
