BAYLOR SCOTT AND WHITE – MEMORIAL HERMANN END MERGER TALKS

Baylor Scott and White Health announced this (Tuesday) morning that they have discontinued talks about merging with the Memorial Hermann Health System.  The two health providers announced last October that they would be merging.  The two systems currently operate 68 hospitals and employ over 73,000 people in 30 Texas counties.  The statement released by Baylor Scott and White said they have concluded “we are capable of achieving our visions for the future without merging at this time”.

Baylor Scott and White operates the hospital in Brenham and in August of last year acquired the Brenham Clinic.  The ending of merger talks with Memorial Hermann will not affect the daily operation of either of the two Brenham locations.

A joint statement from Baylor Scott & White Health and Memorial Hermann Health System

After months of thoughtful exploration, we have decided to discontinue talks of a merger between our two systems. Ultimately, we have concluded that as strong, successful organizations, we are capable of achieving our visions for the future without merging at this time. We have a tremendous amount of respect for each other and remain committed to strengthening our communities, advancing the health of Texans and transforming the delivery of care. We will continue to seek opportunities for collaboration as two forward-thinking, mission-driven organizations.
