WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS EYEING PURCHASE OF NEW VOTING EQUIPMENT

Washington County Commissioners will potentially act on a series of voting system upgrades at their meeting tomorrow (Tuesday).

The county will consider adopting and purchasing new voting equipment, such as the vote-counting machine and automated voting machines available to disabled voters.  According to County Clerk Beth Rothermel, the county’s current equipment is approaching 20 years old.

Rothermel said these equipment upgrades have been approved on the state and national levels, and are accounted for in the county’s budget.

In addition, commissioners will read a proclamation declaring Friday, March 29th as Vietnam Veterans Day in Washington County.  Any Veterans in attendance will be recognized.

Commissioners will also consider:

  • The addition of a court reporter position to the current operating budget for the Washington County Court at Law.
  • Action on Natural Gas Pipeline’s crossing of Salem Road, Dierking Road, and Randle Hill Road in Precinct 2, as proposed by AMP Intrastate Pipelines.
  • A presentation by Ashley Cureton concerning benefits of the Healthy County Wellness Program offered by the Texas Association of Counties.
  • Appointing John A. Brieden, III to the Workforce Solutions Brazos Valley Board.
  • A series of monthly reports.

Commissioners will meet tomorrow morning at 9 a.m., at the Washington County Courthouse.
